Dyslexia in the Secondary Grades

In this module, you will receive an overview of dyslexia and actionable ways that you can support secondary-aged students with dyslexia in their literacy development.

In this training, you will learn how to implement the Comprehension Canopy strategy in your literacy lesson. This brief, five-minute strategy sets students up for success by hooking them into the content of the lesson. Handouts are provided.

Essential Words training and Handouts

In this training, you will learn how to implement the Essential Words strategy in your literacy lesson. Essential Words uses explicit instruction to pre-teach one key vocabulary term to students prior to reading a text. Handouts are provided.

Critical Reading

In this training, you will learn how to implement the Critical Reading strategy in your literacy lesson. Critical Reading teaches the “Get the Gist” strategy, which teaches students to identify the main idea and key supporting details of a passage. Handouts are provided.
