Adolescent Literacy
Adolescents are expected to learn content from a variety of texts. Teachers who use informational text in their lessons find that many students struggle to understand the content. This curated set of adolescent literacy resources were developed with funding from the Institute of Education Sciences and the Office of Special Education Programs to support all learners in science, social studies, and English language arts classrooms.

Instructional Coaching
Instructional coaches at the middle school level face several hurdles to improving the literacy skills of adolescents. First, content area teachers are often reluctant to use literacy practices that they believe take too much time away from the vast amount of content they are required to cover. Second, the sheer number of teachers at the average middle school campus makes in-depth coaching difficult to manage. Finally, some teachers are more willing to work with an instructional coach than others.
AIM Coaching is designed to help instructional coaches manage their caseload by using progress-monitoring data to individualize coaching support. By doing so, every teacher on campus receives some form of coaching that differs in intensity based on teacher needs.
